August 6, 2021 Sendai City: The number of venues for the "Peace Tanabata" distributed exhibition doubles, expanding the circle of sympathy

Two streamers are displayed at the entrance of the Miyagi Co-op Branch Sendai store in Aoba Ward, Sendai City. They are "Sendai Peace Tanabata" made of folded paper cranes sent from all over the country, and are a symbol of hope for nuclear abolition and peace. Until now, they have been displayed in a corner of the shopping street, but since Sendai Tanabata itself was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are now being displayed in various locations, such as workplaces and schools that have agreed to the call.

The number of exhibition venues that responded to the call more than doubled from 22 last year to 45. Miyagi Co-op also displayed streamers at its headquarters and 13 stores this year, compared to just two last year, and is appealing to shoppers to "No more Hiroshimas, Nagasakis, and hibakusha." The circle of sympathy has certainly expanded.
