August 6, 2023: Sendai City's 48th Peace Tanabata - Expanding the circle of sympathy among the younger generation③

ree
More than 10 students from Tohoku Gakuin High School participated in the installation of the streamers, which began at 6am this morning. This year, the number of high schools involved in the Heiwa Tanabata festival has increased to 20. The circle of sympathy with the younger generation is certainly expanding.

Shigeo Yuya (80), representative of the Tanabata Citizens' Gathering to Pray for Peace, said the following:

"One of the main pillars of our movement is to pass on the desire for nuclear abolition to the next generation, and we have made progress in this wish. I hope that this will grow into a force that will influence politics in the future."

The display of Peace Tanabata streamers and distribution of leis will continue on the 7th and 8th.
