August 6, 2024: Sendai City's 49th Peace Tanabata Festival: Increasing participation among the younger generation③

ree
Over the course of three days, 7,200 leis were distributed. Approximately 2 million tourists visit Sendai for Tanabata. Although this is a small percentage, this is sowing the seeds of peace.

On this day, the 79th Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony was reported on television. The Mayor of Hiroshima called on the Japanese government to first participate as an observer in the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, and then to become a signatory as soon as possible. However, Prime Minister Kishida did not mention this at all. What a self-proclaimed Prime Minister from a place that was bombed should do is to convey the feelings of the place to the world and make them a reality. Shouldn't this person drop the title of being from a place that was bombed?

It is our hope to see the shining eyes of the high school students as the circle of participation expands each year.
