On the previous day, the 5th, 25 high school students from Meiji Gakuin Higashimurayama High School in Tokyo and Shokei Gakuin High School in Sendai worked on making leis to distribute to passersby. In about an hour and a half, they made 320 leis.

On the day of the festival, the high school students also worked hard to install the streamers early in the morning. A group from Tohoku Gakuin High School also joined in and installed streamers made from folded paper cranes in the shopping district. Attaching the stickers in a balanced manner was quite a difficult task. The paper streamer on top was once again made by students from Tohoku Seikatsu Bunka Gakuen High School. They finished by attaching bells to make a cool sound as the streamers sway in the wind. The work was completed in about an hour and a half.
